Happy Birthday Kat!
Today is my beautiful sister Katrin’s birthday! She turns 14… how scary is that?!
And I’m sure now would be a great time to have a poignant moment where I apologize for all the mean things I’ve done to you over the years. I could tell the story of that time when you were eight years old and were starring in one of my short films. Your character’s sister had drowned in the bathtub, and as you were walking down the street in the rain (hey, this wasn’t child abuse I DID give her an umbrella!) reflecting on her tragic death, it was crucial that you cried. So I may or may not have said some awful things, for the sole purpose of HELPING YOU get into character! That would be a great story to tell and ask for your forgiveness. Our mother would read this post and weep, knowing that her children were growing up and finally getting along. But I’ve made the decision to stand my ground. So, I’m not going to apologize for anything I did until you apologize for how annoying you used to be. Truth be told, we all know you provoked me.
You yelling at her wouldn’t be so bad if you hadn’t enjoyed it so much. So if Kat has to apologize for how annoying she used to be, did you ever apologize for how annoying you were when you were her age?

Duncan, you definitely will have to apologize to all three of us, and probably Mom and Dad. But you might as well save it until you’re 14 or 15.

Personally I never found any of you annoying. I always thought that was just enjoying your sister or brother. Was I wrong all these years?
